ACE Members Ages 26 to 49 May Now Be Able to Get Full-Scope Medi-Cal

Do you have patients who are HPSM San Mateo County Access and Care for Everyone (ACE) program participants between the ages of 26 and 49? Then they may be able to get full scope Medi-Cal starting on January 1, 2024.

While Medi-Cal eligibility rules (including income limits) still apply to this population, citizenship and immigration status do not affect their eligibility for full scope Medi-Cal. Members will get a letter in December informing them if and when they will get full scope Medi-Cal.

This Ages 26 through 49 Adult Expansion follows two previous full scope Medi-Cal expansions:

  • The Young Adult Expansion, which covered those 19 to 25 years of age, and
  • The Older Adult Expansion, which covered those 50 years old and over.

Prior to these expansions, full scope Medi-Cal was already provided to low-income adults, families with children, seniors, persons with disabilities, pregnant women, children in foster care and former foster youth up to age 26.

These expansions are also part of Medi-Cal Healthier California for All (formerly CalAIM), the multi-year Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) initiative to improve people’s quality of life and health outcomes by implementing broad Medi-Cal delivery system, program and payment reforms.
