HPSM Programs Supporting Cancer Screenings

Cancer screenings save lives and are critical to keeping your patients healthy. HPSM is committed to helping our members stay on track with essential screenings. For instance:

  • Every quarter, we send reminder letters to CareAdvantage and Medi-Cal members who are due for breast, cervical or colorectal cancer screenings. These letters encourage members to schedule a visit with their healthcare provider to discuss their screening needs.
  • We have two screening programs targeting breast and colorectal cancer:

Cancer Screenings Rewards Program

CareAdvantage members who are due for breast or colorectal cancer screenings can receive a Cinemark Prepaid Movie Ticket for each screening completed. This means they can earn two Cinemark Prepaid Movie Tickets if they are due for and complete both screenings. Once a member completes a screening, a Cinemark Prepaid Movie Ticket is mailed to the address provided to HPSM. The ticket should arrive within 90 days of the screening date. See details for limits, showtimes and theaters.

Exact Sciences Cologuard® Pilot Program

Select HPSM members* who are due for colorectal cancer screenings will receive:

  • A Cologuard® colorectal cancer screening kit mailed to their home address.
  • Mailings and other reminders encouraging them to complete the kit.

Members who have questions about the kit can call the Exact Sciences Laboratories 24/7 patient support line at 1-844-870-8870. If you have questions about this program, email populationhealth@hpsm.org.

We encourage you to:

  • Reach out to your patients when they are due for cancer screenings.
  • Inform your CareAdvantage patients they can receive up to two Cinemark Prepaid Movie Tickets when they get screened for breast and/or colorectal cancer.
  • Read our clinical guidelines for cancer screenings.

* Eligible members include CareAdvantage members assigned to San Mateo Medical Center (SMMC) clinics and CareAdvantage and Medi-Cal members assigned to North East Medical Services (NEMS). When screening kit results are ready, SMMC and NEMS providers follow up with their patients to share them.
