The Importance of Giving HPSM Working Fax Numbers

It is crucial that providers give HPSM working fax numbers so we can deliver timely services for our members. Without working fax numbers, we may not be able to contact your office with potentially health-critical or lifesaving decisions affecting our members.

Recently, dozens of attempts by HPSM to contact providers’ fax numbers have failed, particularly regarding prior authorization requests. Some common reasons for this could be:

Problem  Solution
Providing incorrect fax numbers.
Verify that the fax number is correct before sending it to HPSM.
Providing disconnected fax numbers.
Verify that the fax number is active before sending it to HPSM.
Providing phone numbers rather than fax numbers.
Verify that you are sending a fax number (not a phone number) to HPSM.
Setting the fax machine to block incoming transmissions.
Ensure that the fax machine is set to accept incoming transmissions.

Please make sure you give HPSM working fax phone numbers, particularly when submitting authorization request forms.  To update your fax number (or any other practice information) in our Provider Directory, submit a Provider Directory Information Verification or Change Form
