Celebrating Diversity
Cultural awareness events like Black History Month and Disability Pride Month offer HPSM the opportunity to partner with local organizations to celebrate our diverse community and to build awareness among staff and providers about health inequities that HPSM members experience. In the past, some of our outreach has included:
- Email notifications to providers and HPSM staff to share insights on health disparities, cultural humility tools, and community resources.
- Training webinars for staff and providers presented by HPSM staff and community partners.
We also share information about upcoming events from HPSM and our community partners. For more information, see HPSM's Facebook page.
Cultural awareness months we celebrate throughout the year include:
- May – Asian American & Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month
- June – Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Intersex & Asexual (LGBTQIA+) Pride Month
- July – Disability Pride Month
- September 15 to October 15 – Hispanic Heritage Month
- November – Native American History Month
