Monkeypox

Monkeypox (MPX) is a rare disease spread through close, personal contact. In May 2022, MPX began to spread across the United States and other countries that do not normally report the virus. Even though the risk of MPX to the public is currently low, it is imperative that providers immediately report suspected cases to the California Department of Public Health (CDPH).

Public Safety Power Shutoffs (PSPS) are tactical decisions made by Pacific Gas & Electric in response to inclement weather and involve turning off electricity to help prevent the spread of wildfire. HPSM members and providers alike depend on electricity.
