Complementary Care

Complementary care is about finding healing practices that support, or complement, your regular healthcare experience. These practices often are linked to your culture, customs, values and personal preferences. Some examples of complementary care include yoga, meditation, acupuncture, tai chi. Chiropractic treatment, herbal medicines, dietary supplements and massage therapy. You can use these treatments and activities along with the healthcare you already get from your provider. Before you start any type of complementary care, talk to your primary care provider (PCP) to make sure it is safe for you.

While HPSM covers some evidence-based complementary care services (such as acupuncture and chiropractic treatment), fees and limitations may apply. For more information on what is covered by your plan, check your member handbook or call HPSM.
