Resources for Families of the LGBTQIA+ Community
How families engage with their child around sexual orientation and gender identity (SOGI) can have a big impact on the child’s health. Families can take these steps to support the well-being of their child:
- Talk and listen. Families who invite open discussion can help their child feel supported.
- Offer support. Tell your child you love them for who they are. Let them know you are there for them and always will be if they need support.
- Stay involved. Families who try to get to know their child’s friends, romantic partners and what their child is doing can help them stay safe and feel cared about.
