
How to Schedule Rides
HPSM’s Ride Benefit can only be used for approved healthcare visits when you have no other means of transportation. Call at least two business days before your healthcare appointment. (For urgent appointments, call as soon as possible.)
To schedule rides:
Phone hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Before you call:
- Get your HPSM member ID card.
- Be ready to answer questions about your ride.
HPSM’s Ride Benefit covers two types of non-medical transportation (NMT):
Curb-to-curb service – use if you:
- Have a cellphone that can get text messages.
- Can wait at the curb for the driver.
Door-to-door service – use if you do not have a cellphone that can get text messages.
Do you use a wheelchair and need a driver to help you get to and from your residence, vehicle or place of treatment due to a physical or mental disability? Specialized vehicles are available through the Non-Emergency Transportation (NEMT) benefit. Do not call AL for these services. You will need to get provider approval and authorization before your appointment.
Be ready for pick-up one hour and 15 minutes prior to your appointment time. The driver will only wait for five minutes (starting from the scheduled pick-up time or the time the driver arrives, whichever is later).
A driver will pick you up and drive you home.
